Kirkland police say a suspected drunk driver crashed into a power pole late Thursday night, knocking out power to about 50 homes.

Officials said the driver was eastbound on NE 85th at about 11:40 p.m. and ran off the road near 126th Ave NE.

The car smashed into a power pole, but the driver was not seriously hurt.

Utility crews will have to replace the pole, and Puget Sound Energy officials say they expect power to be restored sometime after 8 a.m.
