An incident at Smokey Point on Monday night left one person injured and a suspected drunk driver leaving the scene.
Keith Leary of the Washington State Patrol said that Arlington police were first sent to the scene, at the top of the off-ramp from northbound I-5 to Smokey Point Boulevard, around 7:30 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle. But when they arrived, they found that wasn’t the case.
Instead, they found a child’s bike that had been run over and a man with a cut on his hand. By time troopers arrived, the story was becoming clearer.
According to Leary, a Dodge Durango driven by a 46-year-old Arlington woman had pulled up behind a Dodge pickup at the stoplight at the top of the off-ramp when the truck revved up, drifted backward and hit the Durango.
When the woman and her passenger, a 44-year-old Arlington man, got out of their SUV and approached the truck, the truck’s driver also got out and started an argument with the SUV passenger.
