Seattle cop awarded Medal of Honor more than 70 years after he died

SEATTLE — A Seattle police officer has been given one of the state’s highest honors, more than 75 years after he died while in the line of duty.

Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna was on hand Monday to posthumously award officer Olof Wilson the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor.

Wilson died March 31, 1935, after being hit by a drunk driver while walking his beat along West Dravus Street.

Wilson’s daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren attended the ceremony to pay their respects to the man they say was liked by everyone.

“He was just a real special person, there’s no other way to put it. Very, very special. Very special,” said Wilson’s daughter, Faye Ready.

Ready was just 13-years old when her dad was killed, but she vividly remembers his final night.

“And he had picked me up that night and brought me home and then he went back to his patrol car, back to his job anyway, and next thing we heard was a siren,” she View full post on “drunk” News
