Redmond police assistant chief retires after 35 years

 
The Redmond Police Department bid farewell to retiring Assistant Chief Larry Gainer last week after more than 35 years serving the department and community. Here is the announcement from Redmond police:
Gainer began as an officer with Redmond on July 19, 1976, when the department consisted of 29 employees and the city housed over 16,000 residents.
It didn’t take long for the department to realize what they had as he climbed the ranks rapidly. In 1979, he served as a Motor Officer, a position he helped create and still exists today. He was promoted to patrol Sergeant in 1980 and moved over to the Traffic Division in 1984. His passion for traffic enforcement was obvious as he spent a great deal of time enhancing DUI emphasis. In fact, so much that he paid for it physically, being struck several times by drunk drivers while doing traffic enforcement. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1991, Commander in 1996, and Assistant Chief in 1997. View full post on “drunk” News
