Prosecutors claim the man accused of seriously injuring a Renton jogger during a Friday hit-and-run crash was driving drunk.
Police say 27-year-old Garret Bakken admitted he was driving the car that plowed into Roz Hall as she was jogging last Friday. They say Bakken first hit a guardrail and a sign before hitting Hall.
Hall was later found broken and bleeding in some brush along Lake Washington Blvd. Investigators say the impact sent her 30 feet into the air, breaking both her arms and legs and damaging the car.
“The hood was really flattened in and the windshield on the passenger’s side was really smashed,” a witness said of the car.
After being stopped and arrested, police say Bakken’s blood-alcohol level was well over the legal limit.
Neighbors say speeding is nothing new in the area.
