Police: Man with broken jaw won’t identify attacker

A man who was knocked unconscious and left with a broken jaw in lower Queen Anne refused to identify his attacker because he feared for his life, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Five men were standing on the corner of West Republican Street and First Avenue West at 9:17 a.m. Sept. 20 having an intense conversation when one of the men punched another in the face, knocking him unconscious to the ground, according to the police report for the incident.
A woman watching from her car told police the man hit his head on the sidewalk, and the other men stood around doing nothing.
The woman got out of her car and confronted the attacker, who said, “He’s fine. He’s drunk,” according to the police report.
The men walked off and the woman called police. The man, who had a broken jaw and other injuries, refused to say who hit him, telling officers, “He’ll kill me if I tell you.”
