Early last Thursday, three people struck up a conversation with a man playing fetch with his dog near KeyArena. Then things took a weird and violent turn involving a questionable ruse, a failed act of kindness and one flying Chihuahua.
According to the police report for the incident, the whole thing started with the victim throwing a ball for his Chihuahua for its “entertainment and exercise” around 1:45 a.m. across the street from his apartment.
While the victim was playing fetch with his dog, three people – a man and two women – walked up and struck up a conversation.
“The women were attracted to the small dog and the game of fetch the dog was involved in,” Officer Steward wrote in the report.
The victim told police the three people were drinking and appeared drunk and underage. He said he was worried he would get in trouble for their drinking if police showed up.
So, he made up a story to get away, according to the report. He told the group he was hungry
