A suspected drunk driver was arrested early this morning after slamming his car into a health care clinic.
It happened around 4:30a.m., outside the Multicare Clinic on the corner of Bridgeport and Gravelly Lake Dr.
Lakewood Police say, the driver of the car is an Airman from Joint Base Lewis McChord. Both alcohol and speed played a role in the crash.
According to officers, the car collided with the building, causing significant damage before bursting into flames.
Firefighters responded to the scene and quickly put out the car fire.
Officers say when they arrived on scene the suspected DUI driver was trying to take a cell phone from the witness who called 911 to report the crash.
He was the only one inside the car at the time. He was placed under arrest for DUI and then later released to the Military Police.
