Police: Ballard delivery man attacked for being black

A group of drunk white men – regulars at a Ballard club – hurled insults and rocks at a black delivery man from a nearby restaurant last weekend, injuring one of the women who stepped in to help him, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to the police report for the incident, the delivery man was riding his bicycle back to the restaurant at 12:19 a.m. Feb. 12 when he heard someone shout a racial slur at him. He stopped his bike and turned around to see a group of five or six men standing around in the 5400 block of Leary Avenue Northwest.
According to two women the men had just unsuccessfully been hitting on, one of the men threatened the delivery man using both racial and homophobic slurs. The men continued to hurl insults at the delivery man, according to the report.
When the victim got off his bike and dropped his backpack, the two women got in between the delivery man and the group of men, telling them to go away, according to the report. But, View full post on “drunk” News
