Liquor Board delays decision on Seattle’s proposal to stagger last call

The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) has decided to postpone its decision on extending liquor sales in Seattle until May 30. 
Mayor Mike McGinn and the city council petitioned the WSLCB last July to open the rule-making process and allow the city to extend the hours of alcohol service.
Currently, the state does not allow the sale of liquor between 2:00a.m. and 6:00a.m.
Seattle wants to change that and add a section to the state code that would allow city leaders to petition the WSLCB. If approved, the petition would give Seattle the option to stagger the closing time of city bars.
The WSLCB decided to delay its decision on Seattle’s request until its regularly scheduled board meeting May 30 at 10:00a.m.
The board is gathering more information and insight into Seattle’s request.
Four public meetings regarding opening the state’s alcohol service rule-making were held in Seattle, Vancouver, Kennewick and Spokane.
