Drive safe: SPD conducting emphasis patrols on Aurora this week

Put down the cell phone and find a designated driver, the Seattle Police Department will be out in force patrolling Aurora Avenue North Thursday and Friday.
Officers will be focusing on the top causes of collisions, injuries and death – speeding, drunk driving, cell-phone use, failure to yield – on Aurora from the Battery Street Tunnel to North 145th Street.
The road-safety emphasis patrol is part of the Be Super Safe Seattle campaign with the goal of improving traffic safety.
From the SDOT Blog:
Aurora is a busy thoroughfare within a thriving community. The goal of the emphasis patrol is to promote safe behavior, not necessarily to write tickets. A big part of achieving this goal is getting the safety reminder out to the public in advance of the emphasis patrol. In doing so we work together to create a safer environment.
So, consider yourselves warned, drivers. View full post on “drunk” News
