More than 100,000 Washingtonians over the age of 65 have Alzheimer’s, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. Another 5,000 to 11,000 Washingtonians under the age of 65 have the disease or related dementia.
If those sobering facts make you feel like you need a drink, then I have good news for you. The Ales for Alzheimer’s pub crawl returns to lower Queen Anne Saturday to get you drunk while you support the fight against Alzheimer’s.
For $40, crawlers get an 8-ounce beer at participating bars, a T-shirt, a chance to win door prizes and admission to the after party. All proceeds go directly toward the Alzheimer’s Association to support research, care and support.
Ales for Alzheimer’s, which was held last March in Queen Anne, takes place between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Jan. 28 at Floyd’s Place, Jabu’s Pub, Oskar’s Kitchen, Ozzie’s Bar & Grill, Solo Bar, the Spectator, Streamline Tavern and T.S. McHugh’s.
