Police say a man pulled out a knife after being caught in an attempted “dine and dash” on Capitol Hill.
Officers were called to the restaurant, located in the 1800 block of Broadway, Monday night at 6:30 p.m.
A restaurant employee told them that a drunk and disruptive man and woman had been eating in the restaurant earlier that evening.
When the employee presented them with a $36 bill and asked them to leave, the man acted like he’d already paid for the meal, according to a police report.
The couple got up to leave, and when the employee confronted them, the man pulled out a pocket knife and said something like “you don’t want to mess with me,” according to the report.
The employee let them leave and immediately called the police. Officers canvassed the area but didn’t find the dine and dashers.
