Breaking and entering not acceptable alternative to renting motel room

Last week, four men in their 20s and 30s learned the hard way that if you can’t find the motel manager to pay for a room, breaking into the room through a window isn’t an acceptable alternative, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The manager of a business in the 8500 block of Aurora Avenue North called 911 just after 2 a.m. Aug. 29 to report a group of people forcing open a window at a motel across the street that was closed for the night.
When officers arrived, they couldn’t find the motel’s manager but heard voices coming from inside the room, according to the police report for the incident.
The man who came to the door when officers knocked said the group was tired after going out drinking and had knocked on the manager’s door to pay for a room but hadn’t got an answer, according to the report. He said they got into the room through a window instead and intended to pay eventually, according to the report.
