Police: Metro driver assaulted by drunk passenger

A Metro bus driver was assaulted Saturday evening by an apparently drunk, bellicose passenger who refused to get off the bus, police said.Officers responded to the scene, at South King Street and 8th Ave South, at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a disturbance aboard a Metro bus.When police arrived, the bus driver told them that the passenger had already been asked to leave the coach once. He got off the bus, but then got back on, forcing the driver to ask him to leave again.The passenger began arguing with the bus driver, then kicked the driver in the chest, police said. The driver was forced to defend himself and physically remove the man from the bus.The suspect still refused to leave the area, and demanded to get back on the bus.Officers took him into custody and booked him into King County Jail for investigation of assault.The suspect appeared to be intoxicated at the time of arrest.
